A Mom's Simple Guide To Staying Busy During Lockdown
My Intention for lockdown with the kiddies was to create a daily schedule of activities, print it all out, get the kids involved on planning the day and offering a range of cool stuff to do. I wanted to give us routine and be the coolest mama on the block (for them).
I must admit that I’ve done none of that. With a 14 month old in the mix, it’s not always easy (or virtually impossible) to do one activity that suits all. And we all decided that it’s technically school holidays right now, so we are totally going with the flow, doing whatever the kids and I feel like doing. And the kids couldn’t be happier (to my relief!).

Our days mostly consist of meal times, LEGO, Duplo, some baking (pictured here), building forts and cubby houses, riding bicycles around the living room, some crafting/drawing, LOTS of free play, a bit of outdoor play (after I convince my kids to come outside with me!) and some screen time. The kids have done some cosmic yoga on YouTube and I’ve done a few HIIT workouts as well.
We naturally stick to our morning and evening bedtime routines (the kids wake between 6:30-7am and go to bed between 7-7:30pm). I do make the effort to get them out of their pjs on weekdays, before or after having breakfast around 8am, then lunch at noon and dinner at 5pm. Oh and Finn naps between 12-2/3pm.
Lockdown has been pretty cruisy for us and must admit that I’m not-so-secretively loving this time. I do miss my running but it will come back. Once the kids are meant to go back to school, but most probably won’t be able to, I’ll be a bit more intentional with our days and the activities that fill it. But all that can wait one or two more weeks.
